Match results - March 5
Trinity Open Boys 5 defeated Adelaide High School 2
Goal Scorers: Claire Donaldson 2, Ben Bailey 1, Michael Zimmerman 1 and Jarred Robinson 1
Match Summary: Excellent team effort. Team more settled and used to style of play compared to last week. Need to continue working on fitness levels and basic skills. A good day!
Trinity Open Girls 15 defeated St Dominic's Priory College 0
Goal Scorers: L Kingsmill 4, H Kingsmill 3, C McCormack 2, M Neumann 2, E Kolze 2, K Vonthethoff 1
Best: L Kingsmill, H Kingsmill, K Vonthethoff
Match Summary: The Trinity Girls made their debut in the IGSSA competition with a convincing result against St Dominics. Erica Kolze opened the scoring within the first 3 minutes quickly followed by goals to Karla Vonthethoff and Chelsea McCormack. The girls continued to press deep into attack with the score getting to 8-0 at the half. Hat-tricks to Laura and Hanna Kingsmill and doubles from Chelsea, Monique and Erica enabled us to give the defenders an opportunity to play in the forward lines for large portions of the game. There is still quite a lot of work to do for the girls as they make the transition from Grass Hockey to Turf, but there are promising beginnings.
Trinity U13 White 1 defeated Nuriootpa 0
Goal Scorer: Lucas Robinson
Best: Bryn Evans, John Davey, Romney Wilson
Match Summary: The Trinity U13/14 White team had an impressive win to start the season, despite having only 10 players on the field. The team work was a feature. With lots of good accurate passing, the ball was moved from defence to attack effectively, often with little chance for Nuriootpa to intercept it. Defensively, Bryn and Josh were in control at full back and repelled the opposition attack regularly. On the occasions when they were beaten, Michael in goal, was quick to pressure the Nuriootpa forwards, preventing them from getting quality shots away. The half line was rock solid. John’s composure at left half, together with Romney’s aggression in the middle allowed James (you would never have known it was his first game!) on the right to come into the game to set up numerous attacking moves forward. Ella-Maude and Lucas controlled the inside of the field up forward, with lots of quality play from Nathalie (another first gamer) and Ben (an U11 playing up for the first time) on the wings. The forward interplay between Nathalie and Ella-Maude was a first-half highlight. Overall, a fantastic team effort capped off with a very pleasing result.
Trinity U13 Red 0 lost to Tanunda 1
Best: Bryley Dedman, Nathan Dempster, Billie Bockmann, Hayden Melnik
Match Summary: The Trinity Red team kicked off their 2012 season with a new team of Under 11’s that have moved up to Under 13’s for their first year and several Under 11 players that will fill in on a weekly basis. The team worked very well and created many scoring opportunities through the linking of Billie Bockmann, Bryley Dedman and Joost Lloyd that were well defended by Tanunda. Our Under 11 players, Nathan Dempster, Onor Nottle, Keiran Hammond and Hayden Melnik, played extremely well considering they were playing their second match for the morning. Despite losing 0-1 there were very good signs for the season ahead. A great effort by all.
Trinity U11 0 lost to Nuriootpa 6
Match Summary: Welcome to Elise, Rachel, Ben, Henry, Tia & Breanna who are new additions to the U11 Trinity team. And also a big welcome back to Onor, Nathan and Hayden who have returned for their second season. The standard in the U11 Barossa Hockey Competition looks to be set at a very high level this year. Despite a loss on Saturday, the Trinity team worked hard throughout the game and showed that, with practice, they have the potential to do well this season. Good luck to all!
Trinity U9 1 lost to Tanunda White 2
Match Summary: The U9 Hockey team started the season off with a valiant effort. Playing against Tanunda White, they left the first half with an even score of 1-1. Despite having one less player than the opposition, Imogen, Tegan, Oliver, Nathan and Gabby played extremely well in both defence and attack. A couple of team membersplayed their first ever hockey game this week, so there is only room for improvement and hopefully a few more wins! Well done everyone.
