Dearing makes state shortlist
Trinity College year 10 student Jackson Dearing has made the shortlist of 60 players for the South Australian U16 football team. The squad has a gruelling training load, training three nights a week throughout June in preparation for the national championships in West Sydney in July. We wish Jackson all the best.

Results: Round 3, Saturday 12th May

1st XVIII: Trinity College 12:14(86) defeated CBC 9:11(65)
Best: Terry Collyns, Liam Nottle, Dylan Weaver, Mark Williams, Liam Barnett
Goals: Lachlan Goss 3

Trinity lost the first 15 minutes as CBC were more desperate and full of run. The ball bounced their way but surprisingly the boys were only 7 points adrift at quarter time. The defence worked hard again but unfortunately the use of the ball, the loss of the first touch and failure to follow the set structures cost us dearly. Desperation was infrequent but clearly demonstrated with the smother of the day by Jackson Dearing late in the quarter. (Yes, I thought it was better than Poo’s, but Poo’s was sensational also)
But tides change and Trinity dominated the second and third quarters. If the goal kicking had been straighter, 7 points in the 3rd quarter, the game would have been a blowout. Some experimentation by the coach paid dividends with Bowser cutting out a key opposition player, Weaver weaving magic in defense and Reedy reading the ball well in the forward line. Some highlights during this time was Heath’s hip and shoulder, Dearings tackling, and Naumann’s use of the ball. Terry was again dominate out of the centre offering many quick entries into the forward 50.
A great win against a persistent opposition that never went away (including kicking three goals in the last 5 minutes when the game was clearly won).
Well done boys, 3 and zip. It gets sweeter each week

 2nd XVIII: Trinity 2nd XV111 20:8(128) defeated CBC 0:2(2)
Best; Liam Blacker, Josh Naumann, Joe Medalf, Adam Connelly, Lucas Ordish, Jayden Goodfellow
Goals; Trent Eves, Hayden Johnson, Bradley Schaper, Josh Naumann 3 each, Liam Blacker 2, singles Lucas Ordish, Alex Begbie, Adam Connelly, Lachlan Arthur, Ben Langdon, and Jayden Goodfellow.

Wow, what a dominant performance! We came prepared with new weapons and came up against an undermanned CBC 2nd 18. We lent them 2 players each quarter and they performed as if they were played for Trinity. Our movement of the ball, was fluent and swift. The boys scored 8 goals to nil, keeping the team manager very busy. More of the same in the second even though we changed the side around. We continued to swap players around in different positions in the last half and continued to dominant, although we didn’t quite finish off with as many goals as we would have liked! Great work boys looking forward to the challenge of Adelaide High this weekend.

10A: 10A - 2:3(15) defeated by Rostrevor 19:14(128)
Best Players: Kyle Presbury, Hamish Norton, Tyson Corigliano, Jack Millar, Jack Randone
Goal Scorers: Tyson Corigliano 1, Kyle Presbury 1
Best Players: Kyle Presbury, Hamish Norton, Tyson Corigliano, Jack Millar, Jack Randone
A very tough game for the team as they went down convincingly to a very good Rostrevor side. The team was fired up and ready to put up a good fight at the start of the match, but a few early goals to Rostrevor put a dampener on Trinity’s spirit and they struggled to recover in the first half. A lack of intensity and some questionable decision making resulted in the opposition scoring at will in the first half.
Gallantly, Trinity responded in the second half, restricting Rostrevor’s scoring to just 3 goals in both the 3rd and 4th quarters. The team tried to hold up play and control possession as much as possible and it worked to slow the oppositions run. The team also improved their attack on the football and pressured Rostrevor into numerous mistakes.
Kyle Presbury and Hamish Norton dominated possession in the second half and were the catalyst for many of Trinity’s attacking movements. Tyson Corigliano and Jack Millar provided solid targets up forward, whilst Jack Randone was outstanding on the half back line in the second half.

9A Trinity 9 – 7 (61)  defeated Nazareth 8 – 5 (53)
Goals: Max Williams,Cameron Matters 2, Cody Owens, Marcus Barreau, Thomas Pearson each 1
Best:  Stefan Cavallaro, Marcus Barreau, Cameron Matters, Max Williams, Ryan Tyrell, Thomas Pearson, Travis Eves, Alex Stimson.

The players and a relatively large number of spectators enjoyed a close contest with Nazareth. The Trinity boys were a little slow to get going and were caught too many times with slow disposal.  There was a distinct lack of talking which contributed to our problems. Ryan, Travis and Thomas were very impressive across half back in this quarter and repelled several of the opposition attacks. The second quarter was a beauty, kicking 4 goals and demonstrating great team footy. Stef and Marcus showed some hard aggressive attack on the footy which seemed to ignite others around them. Cameron and Max worked tirelessly, each collecting many possessions. We continued positively in the third quarter but then slowed down again in the last, possibly running out of legs. We were the better side on the day; however the momentum swings could have cost us the game. With 4 solid quarters, the winning margin would have been greater….something to work on!

9B: Trinity  4.4(28) def by Pultney Grammar 24.11(155)
Goals: Zack Cohen, Tyrone Lane, Lachie, Kevin 1
Best:   Zach Cohen, Andrew Munday, Brodie Paxton, Tyrone Lane, Edward Parsons

Better numbers to the game this week however losing Kemp with a knee in the first half hurt us. It was a tough game against far stronger opposition. Pultney flew out the blocks kicking 8 goals in each of the first two quarters leaving the score 16 goals to 1 at half time. The aim was to improve and that we did, managing to lose the last quarter by only 6 points. This was a real footy lesson but everyone improved their own game throughout. Now we have to learn to play team football. Zack Cohen showed that he could win almost ever hit out, even though he was a head smaller than the other ruckman. Andrew worked hard in the middle again. Brodie created great pressure while Tyrone gave an unlikely but solid target up forward. Edward also showed pace and attack on the ball in his first game for us.

8A: Trinity 15:8(98) def. Nazareth 6:5(41)
Best: Jack Schuurmans, Dylan Pope, Cameron Hankinson, Rhys Hankinson,Zac Gupta
Goals: Zac Gupta 9, Lachlan Wray 2, Dylan Pope, Bradley Matters, Cameron Hankinson, Brad Bates 1

An impressive team effort with all lads contributing to another good win. The tone was set early with a 3 goal lead at quarter time. Nazareth's on ball department were talented and we needed to ensure their damage was minimal. Once Again HarrisonPhilp was unbeatable at full back and was supported well with plenty of run and ball use from both the backs and on-ballers. Cam Hankinson worked his guts out at Centre Half Forward providing options and creating space all over the ground. The boys had a handy lead at the half, but failed to run away with it in the third allowing the opposition to many easy kicks and score conversions. The injection of JackSchuurmans into the mid field was a telling difference in the 7 goal4th quarteras we dominated the clearances and moved the ball quickly intoZac Gupta up forward who kicked 5 goals to finish with an outstanding 9 goal bag. A great team effortcapping ofan exciting 3 weeks of footy. Thanks to the parent support again this week, you are crucial to the team success.

Primary A  Trinity 3:1(19) def by Rostrevor  10:14(74)
Best Players J.Hately H.Elbrow N.Hooker J.Desmond B.Symonds
Goal KickersJ.Hately H.Elbrow H.Bennison

After a positive start last week, we were taught a physical lesson this week.  Our intensity and attack on the football for longer periods must improve for us to be competitive against well drilled teams. We were consistently placed under pressure when we had the football which caused constant turnovers. But it was only the second quarter where the opposition was able to capitalise on their dominance, a credit to our boys for sticking at it. Now we have an idea of the skill level expected and hope the boys respond this week.

6/7 North

6/7 South: Trinity South 4:4(28) def by Elizabeth Grove 18:13(121)

We played at Ridley Reserve on Saturday. We knew we were up against a great team after versing them in the carnival, and they didn't disappoint. We managed to keep the pressure on all the way through the game, and the ball was back and forth up and down the ground, but we couldn't capitalise. We moved players around and tried to get the boys to really man up, and get the tackles to stick. This will be something that we deal with at training. The boys put in a really top effort, and mentions go to Jye Mathew, in the backlines, he didn't disappoint, always attacking the ball hard, and putting his head over the ball which eventuated in either smothers or turn overs. Liam Beazleigh had a few great quarters, but it took him a little while to find the ball.
Best players go to James Oxley Dunnery for a top performance, Daniel Wormald who was a danger man in the back line and in ruck, Andrew Chase, for providing many opportunites up forward and through the centre of the ground, and Daniel Bell, who despite playing with a piece of lego in his shoe for half of the game always managed to get hands on the ball and get it forward.

6/7 Gawler River Gawler River 32.23 defeated Paralowie 0.0
Gawler River Goal Kickers: Ryan denHatorg 10, George Harris 6, Brodie Cook 4, Franco Paxton, Sean Ramsay, Kody Harrison 3 each, Coen Delany 2 and Nathan Axford 1.
Gawler River Best Players: Ryan denHartog, Sean Ramsay, Brodie Cook, George Harris, Bryce Cartwright, Kody Harrison, Franco Paxton

Gawler River opened its account for season 2012 with an easy win over Paralowie, taking out the first round clash 32.23 to 0.0. Gawler river kicked 9 to nothing in a barn storming first quarter with Gawler River’s captain, Sean Ramsay, in control in the ruck and Ryan denHartog kicking 6 first quarter goals, despite playing an on ball roll. Ryan finished with an outstanding 10 goals for the match!
The second quarter was much the same as the first, with a 10 goal to nothing effort. Brodie Cook was starting to will himself on the game, winning lots of ball in close and kicking goals. Brodie finished with 4 for the game.
In the second half the mercy rule was imposed, where instead of a centre throw up after a goal, Paralowie had a free kick. Unfortunately for them this was constantly cut of, mainly by Bryce Cartwright, and sent forward swiftly, to an eager George Harris, who kicked 4 goals for the quarter. George finished the game with 6.
The last quarter was very scrappy and Gawler River’s boys all tried kicking a goal. The result was a very wayward 4.10 to finish the game. Even though Paralowie tried hard, Gawler River enjoyed a confidence boosting win to start the year.

6/7 Blakeview

4/5 North: Trinity 12:18(90) def Elizabeth North 3:0(18)
Goals Tom Clements, Cooper Zobel, 3 Jasper Ryan, Ari Vadoulis 2 Harry Taylor, Kalani Sapwell 1
Best Kalani Sapwell - Subway award Sam Riggs - Fasta Pasta Award Ari Vadoulis Thomas Clements Lachlan Harris Jasper Ryan Cooper Zobel

Trinity ran out easy winners with a good team effort. Our players were generally first to the ball and spent most of the time in attack. We need to work on clearing out the forward line so our forwards have got more space to move.

4/5 South: Trinity College South 4/5 vs Bethany Christian School

Best Players: Siraaj Singh, Thomas Richards, Lucas McKenzie
Goal Kickers: Peter Mooreland, Liam Blakemore, Jack Gibbons, Ashley Robertson

Trinity College South 4/5 team enjoyed their first real game of the season beginning to pull together some of the important game plans and structures discussed in the weeks leading up to the game. Their defence was excellent led by Lucas McKenzie in the first quarter. It was always difficult for Bethany to score due to the pressure put on the opposition from close checking. Now the team needs to look at running hard and chasing when they don’t have the ball through the middle and up forward. Siraaj Singh had a superb game as well as Thomas Richards who earned certificates. A great start by all involved!!

4/5 Gawler River:Gawler River 16.8. (104) defeated St Augustine's 2.5. (17)

Today was a terrific example of a team just playing well together and enjoying the game. Although St Augustine's controlled the first fiveminutesof the game - leading by a goal, the team fired right back and controlled the game from then on. Some absolutely fantastic marking was the overwhelming highlight of the game. Some spirited handpassing also through the game as everyone played in all three zones of the field at some stage.
Goals: Michael Jacob H (3), Alex Nick Cameron Alistair (2), Josh Zack (1)
Best: Conor, Alistair, Josh

4/5 Blakeview

2/3 North: Trinity 8:9(57) def Elizabeth Grove 2 : 2(14)
Goal Kickers- Trent 2, hamish 1, Noah 1, Julian 1, Sam 1, Josh 1, Lewis 1
Great game by the lads, a lot of use of the handball to get others into the game, was a great all around effort, with lewis kicking a fantastic goal. Very pleasing game can hopefully continue on for the season.

2/3 South:  South 2/3 v Swallowcliffe 2/3
Best: Josh Tyler, Hudson Cole, Riley Hately, Jakob Schmidtke
Goals: Jakob Schmidtke 7, Josh Tyler 5, Matthew Bennetts 3, Samuel Childs and Trent Harrison 1 each.

A fair Saturday morning bought South their first game of the season against Swallowcliffe. With only 6 South boys playing, it was great to have 3 North players come to fill the team. We played strong footy with ourclearance work and Josh and Hudson even manage a switch! It was great to see the run and handball which wepracticedat training as well as our drop puts. Our pressure on the opposition was wonderful and a great team effort. Jakob Schmidtke played very well down back and up forward especially his unselfish handballs allowing others to kick goals and be involved in the game. Thank you to Josh, Trent and Hudson for playing for us and to Trent Harrison and Samuel Childs for getting their first ever goals in football.

2/3 Gawler River
The Gawler River 2/3’s had a solid hit out against an evenly matched Bethany side on the weekend. The sides went goal for goal across the course of the match, with a number of players holding down their positions well and getting plenty of the football. Wyatt Ions-Richards, Zach Kieboom and Jacob Wotton all scored goals for Trinity, with Zach taking home the encouragement award for his improvement over the past 2 weeks.

2/3  Blakeview: Trinity Blakeview 2-3s VS St Augustines on Saturday 12th of May

Blakeview 2-3s displayed an impressive style of team football against a slightly undermanned opposition.
We had so many contributors to our great performance and everybody played well, We should be happy with how the team has progressed so far this season.
I was really impressed with how we moved the football by hand and foot and carried the football from one end of the ground to the other, this style of football brings all players into the game.
It was very pleasing to watch!
Goal Kickers: Isaac Downie 5 goals Harley Wilson 2 goals Thomas Fuller 2 goals Harrison Gifford Braydon Holmes Cameron Rogers 1 goal
A few special mentions:
Kallum Tyson displayed great team leadership by rotating through positions so others could get a fair go. Dylan Cole demonstrated great persistence and determination through out the game. Well Done and let’s look forward to next week.
